Now in its 16th iteration, the Greater Toronto’s Top Employers project is an annual editorial competition that has become the benchmark in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) for workplace best-practices. Each year, thousands of Canadian employers are evaluated based on the same eight criteria: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial, and family benefits; vacation and time-off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.

As the home base of over 40 per cent of Canada’s business headquarters, with a population of over 6.3 million people, the GTA is one the most competitive employment markets in Canada. Like the culturally diverse and dynamic metropolitan area it represents, the Greater Toronto’s Top Employers competition has become increasingly competitive, such that the organizations who secure a place on the winner’s list routinely rank among the highest in the nation. Amid a strong field of applications from across the region, RVA was recognized for supporting its employees with competitive health and financial benefits and offering unique mentoring and professional development opportunities. Employees are also offered extended health care, global travel assistance programs, a flexible vacation policy, paid volunteering opportunities, complimentary retirement planning services, and a group pension plan with match.

Notably, this year, RVA formalized its longstanding flexible working culture by advancing a series of progressive policies and practices – including a Disconnecting from Work policy, a Flexible Work Arrangements policy, and individualized work arrangement agreements – that empowers our people to create a holistic work experience that is sensitive to the needs of our clients, teams, and themselves. This coincided with the #RVAFlex campaign, which saw team members from across the country share their perspective on how RVA’s culture of flexibility has enabled them to achieve better outcomes in work-life harmony, mental health and well-being, workplace inclusivity, team engagement, and productivity. By reframing and redesigning everyday work as flexible work – including where, when, and how it’s done – RVA has improved the employee experience while simultaneously upholding the firm’s overall mission, culture, and values.

“Being recognized as one of Greater Toronto’s top employers for the past four years is a testament to the unique culture that we’ve proudly built at RVA,” says Shawn Scott, President and CEO. “We are grateful for this honour, but more importantly, we are grateful to our incredible team. It is with their ongoing commitment, and meaningful recognitions such as this one, that we mark our path forward as we continue to innovate and reinvent ourselves to meet the needs of our people, clients, and communities.
