RVA Honoured with Technical Innovation Award by OPWA

RVA has been recognized at the 2026 Ontario Public Works Association (OPWA) Awards Luncheon for our award-winning role in Oxford County’s Drumbo Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Upgrades project in the Township of Blandford-Blenheim, Oxford County, Ontario. 

Announced on May 13, the Drumbo WWTP project received the Technical Innovation Award, in the $10M-$50M category. This award recognizes a team or organization for the development, implementation, and management of a creative idea, innovative process, or applied system that enhances the delivery of public works services. 

The primary objective of the project was to increase the WWTP’s capacity by altering the treatment method from Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) to a Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) process within the existing compact site footprint. Due to site constraints, the design minimized the need for new tankage by converting the existing SBR tanks into extended-air bioreactors.

RVA’s design approach focused on maximizing the use of the existing site and infrastructure while supporting sustainable growth in Drumbo through resilient infrastructure that protects public health. The new MBR facility will also improve the quality of receiving ecosystems, including Cowan Drain and the downstream Nith River.
