Middleton Water Treatment Plant, winner of the 2014 OPWA Project of the Year Award, achieves LEED Certified Status

(December 2015) – Middleton Water Treatment Plant has become the first infrastructure project that has achieved LEED certified status with RVA as the LEED Consultant. It had won the 2014 Project of the Year award from the Ontario Public Works Association in the Environment category.

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program is an international benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. The system encourages the global adoption of sustainable building and development practices and promotes whole-building approach to sustainability.

Middleton Water Treatment Plant was evaluated according to the LEED Canada-NC (for New Construction) system and scored in all categories including Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Innovation and Design Process.
