Planning to construct a bridge takes a lot of effort. Constructability, necessity, and future expansions are all considerations taken when planning to construct a bridge and engineers have a intergral role in each step of the process.  This paper outlines the step-by-step process engineers take in creating bridges and the importance of their role in the process. Written with students this paper discusses the various factors considered when planning and designing bridges.
