Senior Construction Inspector (Contract Position)

•Ensure that our Inspectors protect the interest of our client.
•Assist with the Inspection of the contractors’ work for conformity to plans, specifications and regulations.
•Review and supervise the preparation of daily and weekly progress reports.
•Ensure that fields activities by the contractor are documented properly by the inspectors.
•Ensure that all additional works “Extra’s” to the contract are fully documented and that this information is passed along for approval to the C.A.
•Mentor and Support Construction Site Inspectors as required
•Assist in municipal infrastructure site inspection (roads, highways & bridges, watermains, sewers, and collection systems) on various sites
•Assist with the Examination and Inspection of Field Conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered and take corrective actions as needed
•Liaise with the site Inspectors, contractor, utility agencies, sub-consultants, and client;
•Assist with Contract Administration as needed
•Ensure compliance with Ministry of Labour (Ontario) guidelines
•Adhering to the site health and safety policy and procedures at all times
•Be main site contact with Project Contract Administrator and stakeholders for several projects at once.
•A degree or diploma in civil engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution; or equivalent in experience.
•Demonstrates superior English communication skills both oral and written.
•Eng. or C.E.T certification or eligible to obtain would be an asset.
•A minimum of 10 years’ experience in municipal infrastructure site supervision (roads, highways & bridges, watermains, sewers, and collection systems), preferably with a consulting engineering firm
•Inspection, engineering, and survey coordination skills preferred.
•Micro tunnelling experience would be a definite asset.
•MTO/OACETT RCSI designation would be a definite asset.
•Working at Heights, Confined space, First Aid and WHMIS training.
•Must possess sound judgement; strong organizational, administrative, observational, and problem-solving skills; effective interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills.
•Demonstrated ability to work independently.
•Ability to identify and resolve any problems that may arise.
